Through extensive research, egg freezing has recently become a successful technology, allowing women the opportunity to preserve their fertility until later on in life. This technology is particularly beneficial to women facing cancer treatment or younger women who wish to delay childbearing. The process is almost identical to IVF, except that the treatment cycle ends once the eggs are retrieved.
Egg freezing is still considered experimental by the American Society of Reproductive Medicine. As such, SBFC offers the procedure through a research protocol monitored by an Institutional Review Board (IRB).
