Dr. René Allen
Board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dr. René Allen is committed to offering the highest level of care and expertise in all areas of reproductive medicine. After completing medical school and residency at the University of California, Irvine, Dr. Allen performed his fellowship training in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles.
A native of Santa Barbara, Dr. Allen returned to his hometown to begin private practice in 2008. Since then, he has brought his passion for and expertise in reproductive medicine to an ever-growing and diverse Central Coast community. He is an active member of the community both through Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital and Santa Barbara’s first infertility support group, which he co-created with Shelly Osborn, a local psychological assistant.
Dr. Allen has a special interest in embryo implantation and markers used to assess embryo development. He has also presented research at numerous national meetings on topics including Preimplantation Genetic Screening, male factor infertility, and tubal surgery. Dr. Allen received the Society for Male Reproduction and Urology Traveling Scholars Award in 2008 for his research on hyperglycosylated hCG in semen, and was honored by the Pacific Coast Reproductive Society for his presentation, The Predictive Value of Embryo Developmental Rate for PGD Results and Pregnancy Outcomes.
Dr. Allen’s professional affiliations include the American Society of Reproductive Medicine, the Pacific Coast Reproductive Society, and the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, for which he previously served as the Junior Fellow Chair and Vice Chair and currently serves as the Young Fellow for District IX.
